On Thursday the 27th of August, our Me 109, "Yellow 3", once again was loaded onto Bodø Bilberging's flatbed. The first time was when it was transported to the painting workshop at Bodin Leir, just outside the city. The plane was treated carefully like an egg, and has so far avoided any transport damage.

The labeling has been put in place and is as correct as it can be. In addition, the camouflage has been freshened up and added a few more shadows and hues. Hope that all the self-proclaimed experts out there are satisfied with the result and can accept the fact that there really is no definitive answer, only some guidelines.

To hangarer vises på bildet. |
Ready for backing through the gate of Bodø Videregående Skole, section Aviation. They are located at the south end of the museum, and larger objects that are going into the exhibition must be transported through their workshop to get into the museum. The next objects to enter the same way are a police helicopter and a Sea King helicopter. In the background is the entrance to Bodø Air base. Two hangars are shown in the picture. They are from the days of the WWII and are still in use, and were parts of the "German- or Plank airfield". These hangars and other similar hangars around, i.a. at Bardufoss, was built by the well-known German pipe manufacturer Mannesmann, a company that still exists. That is why they are still called "The Mannesmann hangars". |
