When the family of late Halvard Nilsen cleaned out the estate after him, they came across an album with interesting photos from his career in the Airforce. Bodø Luftfartshistoriske Forening was allowed to take over parts of the album. Gunnar scanned two of the photos showing the arrival of the Catalina which is in the exhibition.

The Catalina was in flyable condition, and its last flight from Gardermoen .to Bodø in July 1984 was performed without any problems.

When "Dakota Norway" got serious problems with one of the engines on their flying Dakota sometime later, they were given permission to replace the defective engine with an approved engine from the Catalina which was then on display.
