Nye deler

Nå er det avgjort hvilken motor som skal kannibaliseres. Det er også bestemt at Gunnar og Bård skal reise til Marinemuseet i Horten og saumfare magasin og lagre etter eventuelle gjenglemte deler.

Now it has been decided which engine will be cannibalized.

It has also been decided that Gunnar and Bård will go to the Norwegian Navy Museum in Horten and search the storerooms for eventually forgotten parts. They will recognize a needed part when they see it.

Del av tenningssystemet kan sammemliknes med en fordeler. Kobbertrådene er tenningskablene som festes til tennpluggene med ei løkke i enden. Part of the ignition system that can be compared to a distributor. The copper wires are the ignition cables that are attached to the spark plugs with a loop at the end.

Hovedkulelageret er ikke originalt, og har for liten ytre diameter. Per på verkstedet fikk tak i en stor "stålklump" som han satte i dreibenken og dreide foringen. The main ball bearing is not original and has too small an outer diameter. Per at the workshop got hold of a large "lump of steel" which he put in the lathe and turned a liner out of it.

Oljepumpa. Motorer av denne typen hadde et enormt oljeforbruk, rundt en liter castorolje for hver 5 liter drivstoff. To the left in the lower edge of the picture is the oil pump, to the right is the pump that puts pressure on the fuel tank. The oil consumption was 1 liter of castor oil for 5 liters of petrol used. Castor oil can be used as a laxative and caused problems for the pilots who sat in the open air, behind the engines which spat out unburnt oil.

Tro det eller ei. De uisolerte strengene som går til tennpluggene og er festet med kun ei løkke er er det vi i dag vil kalle tenningskablene.
